GREENWICH — A person was struck by a train near the Metro-North Cos Cob station in Greenwich on Wednesday evening, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The incident took place around 5:30 p.m., according to the MTA.

The MTA said the medical examiner was on the scene around 8:40 p.m. to complete the investigation.

The incident caused delays upward of 50 minutes for some trains as police investigated. A train went to the area to get passengers off the affected train, according to the MTA.

As of 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, trains departing from Stamford were not stopping at the stations for Old Greenwich, Riverside or Cos Cob. Customers were advised to go to the Greenwich station for service. These trains resumed these stops as of 9:30 p.m., according to MTA.

By 10 p.m., the New Haven Line and New Canaan Branch services were operating on or close to schedule, MTA tweeted.

Greenwich police said the MTA police were investigating the incident.

No further information was available as of 10 p.m.
